Lilly and Will

This is a fun little baby quilt that I made when I was working at White Hills.  I just barely hand quilted it though so I thought I would share it.  It's funny how I didn't notice the one dark brown square until I started this post.  Oh well!  It needs something to stand out I guess.  I do the love the quilting around each of the squares.  Although I goofed on the quilting in the border.  Truth be told, I don't even care at this point.  They can't all be perfect, Right??

Miranda's Flowers

This quilt is special for me because I gave it to my niece for graduating from High School.  Way to go Miranda! You are amazing!  Anyway this quilt is a Buggy Barn quilt.  It was super easy and fun to make.  I choose fun girl fabric that I loved because it reminded me of spring.  The back is made our of flurr so it is super soft and cuddly!  I machine quilted this one!  I am really happy with the results and hope that Miranda enjoys it as much as I enjoyed making it!

Autumn Scrap-tacular

One of the things I dislike about making quilts are scraps. For some strange reason I keep them and then I have a million scraps that I don't use; therefore, my challenge was to use some scraps and this is what I got.  I don't really like it a whole lot but it is finished.  After making this quilt I threw most of my scraps away.  Anything I saved had to be a certain yardage or cut into five inch squares.  I will be posting some of the quilts I have made using them later.  The one thing I decided about this quilt is that I don't have to love all my quilts because hopefully somebody with different taste will get this one and I really hope that they will like it.  If not, then it can just be a throw around quilt@

True Blue

Ok so my son wanted a boy blanket!  Whatever that is?  Anyway this is what he got.  He was not too thrilled about the fabric saying that it was too girly but he was excited with the overall quilt.  This is a pattern I just made up.  It was a lot of fun to do.  In hindsight I would have done it a little different because it doesn't quite fit his bed the way I want it to but oh well.  Overall I really like it too!  By the way, this one is actually hand quilted! Love you peaches!  Can't wait til your room is finished so you can actually have your new quilt.

A quick Strip Quilt

We wanted to do a service project as a family.  Of course we decided to make quilts!  This one was made for the elderly patients at the hospital who need something extra to keep them warm.  I actually put chenille on the back to make it a little heavier.  It was really fun and easy to do.  The best part is that when I had to stay in the hospital, I saw somebody using this quilt in their room.  That made my day!

A Square is a Square

Ok, I am trying to get back into the swing of things so here goes.  This is a fun little quilt I did.  The center squares are gathered together to give a little dimension.  It was a fairly easy quilt.  I uses Moda Pure fabric line and loved the result.  It has minky on the back so it is nice and cuddly.  My youngest daughter adopted this quilt as soon as I finished it even though that was not my intentions for it, but sometimes our minds are made up for us instead of by us.

Delay

Ok, so my daughter had an accident in January and that has taken all my time, so sorry!  I think we have that mostly figured out now and hopefully I will be able to get busy doing what I love! Again, sorry for not keeping things posted.

Apron Crazy

So I was on an apron craze this year!  I made over twenty aprons between the two patterns.  It was a ton of fun but way too much work!  I think everyone who received them really like them so I guess it made it worth my time.  I didn't have a pattern for wither apron so I just kind of made it up as I went.  All of the material I used on these projects was bought for 1/2 price or better.  Even better, right?

Women of Influence

This quilt is one that I recently finished.  It is a block of the month quilt that my local quilt shop did in 2010 from the book,  Women of Influence: 12 Leaders of the Suffrage Movement, by Sarah Maxwell & Dolores Smith.
Each block represents a different woman from history.  It was a lot of fun to make but obviously took me about a year to complete it. My appliqued blocks need a little more work, but it was fun to do them. They are done using needle turning.  After I finished all the blocks, my husband had some schooling to do so I took the material and finished the top in a motel room.  Not the best idea because this blanket is huge!  It is a large King sized quilt.  I had it machine quilted by a lady named Micah. She did a fabulous job!  Now all I have to do is to decide for sure what to do with the finished project!
